We stand in unconditional solidarity with the spuyaləpabš/Puyallup, dxʷsqʷaliʔabš/Nisqually, other Coast Salish, and all Indigenous people in the fight against the ongoing occupation and dispossession of their ancestral land, from Puyallup to Palestine. Indigenous people have stewarded these lands since time immemorial and continue to do so today. We uplift Indigenous voices within our organization and community and gratefully partner with Indigenous led groups. We honor the multitudes of Indigenous identity including queer, two-spirit, and Black people; many whose ancestors were abducted and enslaved by a system that continues to this day under the 13th amendment. We demand reparations, an end to the ongoing genocides, and the return of land and natural resources. Indigenous sovereignty and climate justice are indivisible and instrumental to the revitalization of ecosystems worldwide.
Every month CASS's Indigenous committee invites a local indigenous elder, leader, or organizer to guide us in prayer and song. This is one way CASS continues to uplift Indigenous voices. These events are always open to the public. Typically held on the first Friday of each month, check our Instagram or Facebook for updates.
CASS is proud to be in coalition with many Indigenous led groups, like CCG0. You can read more about this here.
We are proud to have elder members of CASS who bring their wisdom and power to our organization. Elder voices are honored and uplifted, and all accommodations are made to ensure full participation of our elders from amplified sound, large-font option, help with transportation and more.
